I just completed my degree and I am spending my last weeks in Freiburg. It is really cold here, so I rummage through some old holiday pictures. Watching the ones from my travel to Indonesia, I decided that it is time to create an album with all this amazing, paradise like, pictures.
First destination was Bali. Here we did several daytrips to explore the island.

On Bali you can visit a lot of temples. My favourit one was definitely the water palace in Ujung.
From Bali I went to Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Here I did not feel that much like in paradise anymore. But time passed by very fast and I met a friend at the airport and I continued the travel with her.
Some impressions.
Sunda Kelapa, the old harbour, is quite worth a visit.
From Jakarta we took a flight to Sulawesi and made our first experiences taking a public bus in Makassar.
We wanted to skin-dive, so we decided to go in the south of the island first.
Pantai Bira |
Sulawesi, or rather the regency Tana Toraja has a really interesting death-cult. Attending one of the funerals is a must if you are in that region.
Slaughtering the buffaloes. I will spare you with more detailed pictures. |
The traditional house called Tongkonan.
Rikshaw drivers having their break in Jogja |
The water palace Tamasari
The famous Hindu temple Prambanan and the famous Buddhist temple Borobodur are not far from Jogjakarta.
Prambanan |
Other destinations we visited after Jogjakarta were Karimun Java, Lombok and the Gili islands.
I really had a great time in Indonesia with a lot of new experiences and I met so many nice people altough we had some problems from time to time, too. The most fascinating time was living with an indonesian family in Tana Toraja for some days who treated us like family members and invited us to a family celebration while we were living with them.
Not every place does look like you are in paradise, but you can find a lot of them in Indonesia.
